Meet Ainslie

The designer behind Design Anthropic.

I create homes that evolve with you.

The spaces we inhabit shape our emotions, interactions, and well-being. At Design Anthropic, we create personalised, human-centred interiors that are both beautiful and functional—spaces that evolve with you over time. Whether you're refreshing your home, planning a renovation, or seeking expert guidance on ageing-in-place design, our approach ensures your environment supports your lifestyle today and in the years to come.

A little about me.

I'm Ainslie, the founder of Design Anthropic and a passionate advocate for thoughtful, future-focused interior design.

With a background in Interior Architecture and a degree in Physical Anthropology, I bring a unique perspective to design—one that considers not just aesthetics but also human behaviour, ergonomics, and well-being.

Before launching my own practice, I spent over a decade working in healthcare environments, where I saw firsthand how spaces can impact physical and emotional health. This experience has deeply influenced my approach to interior design, particularly in the areas of ageing-in-place solutions, wellness-integrated spaces, and personalised home design.

My approach is all about human-centred, future-focused design.

Great design isn’t just about how a space looks—it’s about how it makes you feel and how well it serves you over time. At Design Anthropic, I take a holistic approach to interior design, ensuring that every space is not only visually stunning but also practical, adaptable, and deeply personal.

PERSONALISED INTERIORS

I tailor each project to reflect my clients' unique lifestyles, aesthetic preferences, and functional needs. Whether it's a sophisticated renovation or a subtle refresh, I create interiors that feel truly yours.

AGEING-IN-PLACE AND FUTURE PROOFING

I design with longevity in mind, considering how your needs may change over time. My expertise in accessible, ergonomic, and wellness-driven design helps create homes that support independence, comfort, and ease of use.

AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL BALANCE

I use a refined palette of mid-to-high-end finishes, bespoke joinery, and timeless design elements to craft spaces that feel elegant yet practical—homes that enhance daily life.

Ready to create a home that grows with you?

Your home is more than just a place to live—it’s a reflection of your story, values, and aspirations. I consider not only how you want to feel in your home today but also how it will evolve to support you in the future.

So, what does your home mean to you? How do you want to experience it as time passes? Let's explore these questions together and design a space that aligns with your vision—now and for years to come.

GOT QUESTIONS? WE HAVE THE ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions.

  • Ageing in place means living in your home as you age instead of a senior living community or nursing home.

People report higher happier scores when ageing in place as it maintains independence and proximity to friends, family, and the community you are familiar with.

The most important factor of ageing in place is your home. It needs to support you now and into the future to help prevent catastrophic events such as falls, which can result in broken bones, long hospital stays, and even forced assisted living arrangements if you can no longer look after yourself.

Seeking out a professional Interior Designer who has knowledge and experience in ageing in place will help you maintain your independence and control.

  • Interior design is often misunderstood as being entirely decorative; human-centered design addresses people’s functional needs alongside aesthetic considerations.

As a designer, my core motivation is to improve the well-being of people now and into the future.

  • My design philosophy centres around blending cherished items with beautifully crafted joinery and carefully selected materials that reflect the client's personality and lifestyle.

I create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also deeply personal and meaningful. I focus on designing for longevity, enjoyment, comfort, and luxury.

The goal is to ensure that you love the space you inhabit and appreciate how it makes you feel. Each room should tell a story, evoke emotions, and provide a sanctuary where you can truly relax.
