Do you have a specific design style?
My design philosophy centres around blending cherished items with beautifully crafted joinery and carefully selected materials that reflect the client's personality and lifestyle. I create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also deeply personal and meaningful. I focus on designing for longevity, enjoyment, comfort, and luxury. The goal is to ensure that you love the space you inhabit and appreciate how it makes you feel. Each room should tell a story, evoke emotions, and provide a sanctuary where you can truly relax.
Can I integrate my existing furniture into the new design?
When integrating your existing furniture into a new design concept, it's essential to approach the process with creativity and an open mind. Your cherished pieces can become integral elements of your refreshed space, adding character and personal history to the overall design. Your furniture can serve new purposes within the design; for example, a dresser might find new life as a stylish console table in the living room, while a beloved armchair could create a cozy reading nook in your bedroom.
This repurposing not only preserves your meaningful items but also adds unique touches to your interior. For pieces that need a refresh, consider giving them a makeover. Refurbishing vintage or sentimental furniture can breathe new life into these items, allowing them to complement your new design aesthetic. This approach ensures that your new interior design will be a true reflection of your personality and lifestyle, filled with pieces you love and that make you feel at home.
What if I change my mind after approving the designs?
Changes to the design after they have been approved and finalised will be charged at an hourly rate, or another service package can be purchased to complete the changes.
What areas and location do you service?
Design Anthropic is based in Brisbane and provides interior design services in Brisbane, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast. However, we also offer online resources and guides if you live outside Southeast Queensland.
Why is it advantageous to hire an interior designer early in a project?
All aspects of the construction or renovation require an interior designer's input and collaboration with architects, builders, contractors, and landscape designers at the planning stage of a build. This includes spatial planning and drafting plans to communicate custom cabinetry, kitchen and bathroom designs, lighting plans, electrical plans, and the selection of interior and exterior finishes, materials, and fixtures.
As an interior designer, I have industry contacts with suppliers and artisans not available to the general public, resulting in uniquely personalised and considered homes for my clients. To ensure the designs created for my clients become a reality, I also work with the builders, trades, and suppliers during the build and install phase, handing over a beautiful project.
Will Design Anthropic work with my architect or building designer?
We have experience working alongside architects and building designers. Each discipline brings its own unique set of skills to a project. It is best to consult an Interior Designer early in the building design phase to create the best final product.
What is accessible or human-centered design?
Interior design is often misunderstood as being entirely decorative; human-centered design addresses people’s functional needs alongside aesthetic considerations. As a designer, my core motivation is to improve the well-being of people now and into the future.
What is Ageing In Place?
Ageing in place means living in your home as you age instead of a senior living community or nursing home. People report higher, happier scores when ageing in place as it maintains independence and proximity to friends, family, and the community you are familiar with.
The most important factor in ageing in place is your home. It needs to support you now and into the future to help prevent catastrophic events such as falls, which can result in broken bones, long hospital stays, and even forced assisted living arrangements if you can no longer look after yourself. Seeking out a professional Interior Designer who has knowledge and experience in ageing in place will help you maintain your independence and control.
Is Design Anthropic insured?
Yes, we hold the necessary insurance, including public liability and compensation insurance.
